15.09.2023

On 14.09.2023, around 20 REFA members were given a very exciting insight into the logistics center of BHS Global Logistics. Managing Director Alexander Walberer and Logistics Manager Andreas Hagn warmly welcomed the group and gave them a tour of the building.

Located in the industrial area »Weberschlag« and to find under the address »Logistikpark 1«, it has with a floor space of 26,500 m² (e.g. block warehouse, palet warehouse, cantilever warehouse, automated small parts warehouse as well as a office building (3 floors) with 865 m². Only fourteen months after the groundbreaking ceremony in September 2021, the construction project with an investment volume of approx. 38 million euros was completed in November 2022.

During realization, particular attention was paid to ecological and sustainable aspects. The logistics center is already DGNB climate-certified and is one of the first industrial buildings to meet the requirements of the new BEG energy standard. The entire hall roof is fitted with photovoltaic modules to use solar energy to generate electricity. Attention was also paid to an ergonomic design of the workplaces from the very beginning – e.g. by providing gentle lifting tools, height-adjustable desks or a lighting concept with natural daylight.

During the visit of the automated small parts warehouse (AKL) with currently more than 34,000 container locations, the REFA members were then able to get an idea of the innovative technologies such as »Pick by Robot« as well as digitalization. At the end, a little small talk could take place while enjoying a snack.
